‘Tis the Season: Holiday Party Planning

November 24, 2017

With just over a month to go until the holidays are finally upon us, the holiday party planning season is in full swing. That means that amidst the shopping and baking, if you’re hosting a holiday party during the month of December, you need to get your butt in gear and get organized.

What's the best road to a calm, organized and fun holiday party? A good plan! Get started now so you can easily tackle the season in a stress-free and organized manner.

Planning for any holiday party – from a small dinner with close friends to a full-scale party with several guests – requires a step-by-step outline to help make quick work of what needs to be done, one that leaves you with plenty of time and energy to celebrate the season.

A great way to structure your planning is with a theme – and who doesn’t love that? Here are a few holiday party themes that are sure to please:

  • Craft Time: Gather up the crafting supplies and get cracking on some holiday-themed ornaments, decorations, or even homemade gifts!

  • Nothing beats the good old ugly sweater party! Make sure you have a prize for most creative – and by that we mean ugliest – outfit.

  • That’s a ‘Wrap’ party – get everyone to bring their unwrapped gifts and some wrapping essentials and get everything done while sipping on some festive spiced eggnog.

We also came across this great article from Real Simple which offers a 6-step, stress-free holiday party plan. Find it here: https://www.realsimple.com/holidays-entertaining/holidays/christmas/stress-free-holiday-party.

After you’ve assembled your plan, it’s time to think about food. No matter what you decide to serve, having candy on hand at holiday parties is a no-brainer. You can set out candy bowls filled with individually wrapped chocolate mints, toffees and other holiday-themed sweets.

Why not try incorporating candy into your holiday party decorations? A candy wreath, for example, is a festive idea that adds a unique – and sweet – touch to your next party. You could even make this easy project with your kids. It only takes about a half hour. All you need is a green artificial wreath, silk poinsettias, assorted colourful wrapped candies or lollypops, ribbon, scissors and a glue gun (make sure the little ones use the hot glue gun under adult supervision).

The rest is up to your imagination!

At Kerr’s, we have a full range of candies to help with your holiday party planning, including a variety of festive flavours. Visit www.kerrs.com/christmas to see our selection!
