We love caramel corn – that sweet and salty treat that you often get at the local fair. We love it so much that we crafted an easy recipe to make it at home, in no time at all!
1 package of Kerr’s Creamy Caramels
1.5 Tbsp butter or margarine
1.5 Tsp water
5 cups air-popped popcorn
½ cup peanuts (optional)
Start by preheating your over to 300°F.
While the oven preheats, start popping your popcorn (of course)!
Spray a large baking sheet with cooking spray or line with parchment paper so that your caramel corn doesn’t stick.
In a large saucepan, combine your caramels, butter and water together, stirring frequently until caramels have melted and a smooth sauce has formed.
In a large bowl, pour the caramel mixture over the popped popcorn and peanuts (or any other add-ins).
Gently mix the popcorn and caramel - be careful, you don’t want to break up your popcorn too much!
Once the popcorn has been coated in caramel, spread it out onto your baking sheet.
Pop the baking sheet in the oven for 20 minutes, giving it a quick turn at the 10-minute mark.
Transfer the baked caramel corn to a tray covered with wax paper and allow it to cool completely, then break it into clusters and enjoy!
